Our Story
In 2021, our divergent paths in life finally crossed…
On our very first date at Rose’s in Oakland, we discovered that we had a dear friend (—shout out to PK!) in common. Activated by this discovery, Nate switched into #RecruiterMode, peppering Sarah with twenty questions (literally). We clicked instantly, and learned that we had a lot to connect over — experiencing new places and cultures, the latest releases in film and television (ranging from trashy to arthouse), and our love for the Bay. Our conversation flowed for hours and never really stopped.
Fast forward nearly 5 years later, our relationship has only grown richer and has grounded us through new jobs, new apartments, personal growth, challenges, and adventures all around the world.
Our Engagement
Last summer in Paris, we decided to commit to a lifetime together.
Nate decided to plan a picnic date at our favorite park, Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. The night before, Sarah asked if it was a “special picnic”, but Nate rebuffed her so convincingly that she shrugged and went to bed. The next day, we walked to the park and settled in a quiet meadow overlooking the lake. Sarah took in the scenery and remained completely oblivious to what was coming, despite the fact that Nate was completely silent and hadn’t touched his sandwich (if you know him, you know how strange this is). After coaxing Sarah up and off the blanket under the guise of a photo opp, Nate got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. She answered with “of course”.
We spent the afternoon laughing, crying, and drinking lots and lots of champagne.
